Blueberry Pancakes!

So many things about what I thought motherhood would be like and what it really is like is kind of a NEWSFLASH for me!! One of them is regaurding Maeve’s food and eating habits. I have heard so many mothers complain about their child/ren being picky eaters. And while I absolutely understand that there certainly ARE those picky children, I also thought it had a lot to do with what they were feeding their children (which I still think is true to some degree).

When we really started introducing different foods to Maeve, she was on it! She would eat just about anything, and it was wonderful. So wonderful in fact, that we thought that we were doing a really good job at making her like her veggies and all that good stuff. Ummmm…we were wrong!!! Soooooo wrong. The little turkey has, in the past few weeks, developed an opinion!! And when I say opinion, I mean like close her mouth, purse her lips, shake her head kind of an opinion. She thinks she is all grown up now and ONLY wants to eat what is on our plates. We will even scoop food onto her spoon (which she has also decided that she needs a big person spoon or fork), and then pretend to scoop from our plate as well, so she’ll eat it. Well, that worked for about the first week. Then she realized that we weren’t actually putting our food on her spoon. So then we would scoop her food and top it with something from our plate…even if we are all eating the same thing!!! Oh, and to top things off…she really insists on feeding herself! Stinker!!!!

Needless to say, we have a very picky eater on our hands! And it is TRICKY!!!

She does, however, like blueberry pancakes!! Daddy made us gluten free, blueberry pancakes for breakfast the other am. They were delish, and Maeve loved them…thankfully! She was being so cute (naturally), so we decided to share…

Blueberry pancakes are equally as good when put into the ear…

She melts me…even when her face is covered with food…

So… to all those mothers and fathers of picky eaters…I FEEL YA! I do!

It’s really hard to believe that we met Dakota when she was a mere 2 weeks old. And now…she’s 2 years old!!! What’s even more hard to believe is the fact that when we met the Davis family, they were just a really great family that we were excited to have as new clients. And now…they are so very dear to us. Maria and I have turned our client/photographer relationship into an incredible friendship that I couldn’t image not having. After all, she is my BTF!! (For those out there that aren’t familiar…BTF = Best Text Friend! That’s right, we will have full on deep, meaningful conversations via text…and it’s perfect!)

And this shoot was even more special because it’s the last shoot we will do of them as a family of 3 ;) Little Baby Davis will make his/her arrival in November!! Woowoooo!

Here is Miss Dakota Lynn in all her sassy glory…

All of these absolutely KILLLLLL me! So beautiful…

STUNNING…

Oh, I love you guys…

Thank you, thank you for allowing us to photograph your beautiful family. Even more…thank you for your friendship!

Eugene Marathon 2012

Yesterday couldn’t have been any better! The weather was perfect, and everyone was ready to run!! Except me (insert feeling sorry for myself here :( my ankle is still messed up from the 2010 marathon! Boo)!

David ran the half marathon!

My dad ran his second FULL marathon!!

And Darryl ran his very FIRST FULL marathon!

It was so awesome to be able to cheer for them on this wonderful accomplishment. David and Darryl ran together until the split. David had some talky juice on board…aka coffee, and he just talked Darryl’s socks off ;)

My dad was smokin’ right along that I missed him at my first stop! I was able to run the last 3 miles with my dad. It was such a great moment for us, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t say the same for him though ;) He was hurtin’ pretty bad by the time I reached him, but I am so proud of him for perserveering and finishing the race with a PR from his 2010 marathon.

Here are a few photos from the day…

Darryl and David were so easy to find due to Darryl’s height advantage ;)

Dad looked super strong…

Daddy on his way over to give Maeve and Mommy a smooch…

David finished the last 200m with Maevey. It was so cute. Click here to watch the video clip of them finishing!

Also, great job to all of our friends for running either the full or the half!! What a day!!

Rearview Window

Since Maeve was born, I have been UUUUUUbsessed with looking in the rearview window. We, of course, got one of those handy little mirrors, so that we could keep an eye on her. In the beginning, it was the constant need to make sure she was okay and still breathing. Then it turned into…I wonder what she’s doing. And then…look how cute she is, and I wonder what she is doing. Then…look how cute she is, I wonder what she is doing. And now…look how cute she is, I wonder what she is doing. Of course I will never stop hoping, praying, and wishing that she is doing okay and still breathing, but the heavy threat has seemed so imminent doesn’t feel quite so heavy…at least for now. So, whether I am driving or in the passenger seat, my need to stare at my beautiful child persists. And this is why…

11 Month Old Maeve

11 months old means 1 month away from 1 YEAR old!!! I will save all the mushy sentiment for that blog post ;)

But truly…every second of my experience as Maeve’s mother is nothing short of amazing! It’s incredible how quickly she is learning new things and growing into her own little person. She’s been walking for just over a month now and getting better and better. Until two days ago, she still preferred to crawl. And while she still does her fair share of crawling, she is starting to prefer to walk *single tear rolling down my cheek*. Not that I don’t absolutely love her walking, but it’s just one more reminder of how quickly the time is passing.

She weighs about the same as she has since she was 6 months old. For two reasons…1-she was a F-A-T baby!!! and 2- she is so much more active! I’m not exactly sure on her height at the moment, but she is a tall little button! She talks all the time…again, better and better by the day.

Some words of hers:

  • boot (which is actually book)
  • da (dog)
  • poot (poop)
  • hot (she can actually say this quite well…and quite cute)
  • ssssa (sock)
  • blo (block)

She is learning to make animal sounds too, which again…so cute (weird how everything she does is cute ;) )

Aaaaaand the lists and funny little nuances she does could go on and on, so I will leave you with a few pics of our little llama…

This is her sign for “all done” “uh oh” “where’d Maeve go?”, and a few others…

See what I mean about cute?!?!? Plus, it’s even cuter because she is wearing the sweater I knit her :)

Ugh! Beauty…

This walking business is serious stuff…

Maeve, where’s your nose…

Silly little turkey…

Maeve is still loving her weekly swim class. Here is a short clip of her at swimming and just being…you guessed it…cute…

Happy 11 months my little love.

Until next time…

We are luckin’ out lately with some pretty amazing babies. Paisley was absolutely no exception. In fact, she was quite remarkable. And…a big AND…she did not poop or pee on either of us…which, let me remind you all, is huge when you are photographing babies! So, miss Paisley, thank you for a wonderful shoot. Mom and dad too! You guys were so great and laid back and had plenty of props to work with. Take a peak at the sweet little babe…

So stinkin’ sweet…

Absolutely L-O-V-E!!! She looks so beautiful and peaceful…
